The Story
Based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, this inspirational story follows an ebullient postulant who becomes governess to Captain von Trapp’s seven children.
She brings music and joy back into their household. But as Nazism takes hold of Austria, the family faces a moral reckoning.
The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein, The Sound of Music features a trove of beloved songs. Including, “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do Re Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” and the title number. This remains one of the world’s most cherished musicals, winning five Tony Awards and five Oscars.
