Theatrical is an independent not-for-profit theatre company. We produce theatre with heart by creating opportunities for actors, singers, dancers, set builders, stage crew, costumers, make up artists and technicians to participate in making high quality community made musical theatre in inner city Melbourne.
Theatrical works hard to create an approachable, fun community-made theatre experience – both for the community members who get involved in our productions and the audiences who watch our shows.
We have an inclusive casting policy. This means we always seek to cast the best performer for the roles available across a diverse range of cultural groups and ethnicities. People will be considered seriously for any role, and not solely confined to those written with their own personal characteristics in mind. Our auditions are open to anyone in the community and we welcome a diverse range of performers for every role to more accurately reflect the diversity of a modern Australia.
If you’re interested in supporting what we do or keen to get involved as a volunteer you can read more here.
Andrew Gyopar is the Founder and Executive Producer of Theatrical. Each week Andrew posts a new video on his YouTube channel (AndrewG.tv) to share ideas on how you can explore your passion for creative expression through community theatre. Videos cover the many forms of creative expression, talk to community theatre people about how they express their creativity and go behind the scenes in community theatre shows all over Melbourne.
Melbourne Theatre Info is a project we started to promote community theatre to the general public. When we realised that there are so many people who didn’t know much about community theatre we started Melbourne Theatre Info to increase awareness of community theatre and help all 150 community theatre producers in Melbourne and regional Victoria promote their shows to the wider community.
Anyone can subscribe to Melbourne Theatre Info to receive free regular updates on upcoming plays and musicals in your area.
